Common Questions
The questions most owners ask us — answered honestly, so you can decide whether to get in touch.
Absolute confidentiality is the cornerstone of how we work. Nothing is shared with your employees, customers, or suppliers without your explicit consent. We operate under strict non-disclosure from the very first conversation, and we will sign an NDA before you tell us anything you would not want repeated.
Longer than most owners expect. Six months from first conversation to completion is realistic at the very best, and it is often considerably more. Much of that is outside anyone’s control — solicitors, funding and whatever due diligence turns up. Anyone who gives you a completion date at the first meeting is guessing. We would rather set a realistic expectation once we understand your situation, and revise it early if it changes.
We look at a combination of normalised earnings, assets, customer relationships, and the strength of the team you have built. We explain our methodology in plain English and welcome your questions at every step. Our goal is a valuation you feel is fair — not one designed to catch you out.
Protecting your team matters to us, and it is also simple self-interest: we buy businesses to run and grow them, which means we need your people to stay. We respect existing employment terms and work hard to retain the culture you have built. Your staff are an asset, not a liability.
You are welcome to involve a solicitor or accountant — many owners find this reassuring, and we work openly with their advisers. However, you do not need a business broker to approach us. We deal directly with owners, which keeps the process straightforward and avoids unnecessary fees on your side.
We focus on established, profitable small and medium-sized businesses in Nantwich and the surrounding areas of Cheshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire. We are most active in engineering, manufacturing, B2B services, specialist trades and distribution, though our real interest is in businesses with good customer relationships, a reliable team and a history of stable trading. If you are unsure whether your business fits, just get in touch.
None whatsoever. Your first conversation is entirely exploratory and carries no commitment on either side. We will never pressure you to proceed, and you are free to walk away at any point. Many owners simply want to understand their options before making any decision — that is exactly what we are here for.
Once heads of terms are agreed, we move into due diligence — a careful review of the business to confirm what we have discussed. We then work with solicitors on both sides to complete the legal transfer. Throughout this period we keep you informed at every stage and manage the process so it places as little burden on you as possible.
Still have questions? We are happy to talk through your situation in complete confidence.
